Jane A. Langford

Executive Vice President and
General Counsel
TD Bank Group

Appointed Executive Vice President and General Counsel in 2022, Jane leads the Bank's Legal function, providing counsel to help protect the best interests of the enterprise by identifying and assessing legal and regulatory risks, as well as trends and opportunities that influence its strategy and operations.

Jane joined TD in 2012 to develop and lead TD's Canadian litigation team after previously working as a partner of the Litigation Group at McCarthy Tétrault LLP. In 2014, she shifted her focus to corporate law, assuming accountability for various business legal teams before taking on responsibility for the Canadian Legal department as SVP in 2017.

Under her leadership, the Canadian Legal team was recognized as the Financial Services Law Department of the Year and Overall Law Department of the Year by the Canadian Law Awards in 2020. In 2022, the Canadian ESG Legal Team won the Canadian General Counsel Award for innovative ESG services.

Dedicated to making a positive impact at TD and in the community, Jane sits on the United Way Greater Toronto Law Cabinet and is Chair of TD's enterprise-wide Inclusion and Diversity Leadership Council. Previously, Jane was a member of TD's LGBTQ2+ Steering Committee and led TD's Trans & Non-binary Council. She also served on the Board of TD Insurance.

In 2020, Jane was named one of Canada's Top 100 Most Powerful Women by WXN, recognizing her transformative and inclusive leadership over the years. In 2022, she received the Canadian Law Awards Female Trailblazer of the Year Award.

Jane is a graduate of the University of Toronto (Victoria College) with a BA in International Relations & Political Science and holds an LLB from Osgoode Hall Law School, York University.
